Pet Portraits
Hello! Welcome to my website. Here are some points about the process of making my pet portraits. They are made with colored pencils on watercolor paper. I'm trying to keep them to a size of approx 16.5 by 16.5 cm (6.5 by 6.5 inches). I will need a few good quality pics of your pet, some that have a close up of their head/face, because I need to see the details of their eyes, noses etc.
Firstly, I will make a b/w collage in the computer for you to approve the idea/composition, along with a rough Idea of the color scheme. Then I'll start the color drawing, which usually takes about 2 weeks to complete. Once I finish, unfortunately I can make only very minimal changes/corrections, as big ones will ruin the paper/drawing. I'm trying to keep the portraits in the style of "magic realism", as you can see in the portrait of the cat Phyllis, above. It means stylised contours, a background of one colour and maybe the name of your pet if you like, on top.
I ask my clients to let me post the portrait on my Instagram/website, as this is how I get my clients - but I don't have to tag you if you'd like me not to. I charge £500 for a portrait, which is 640 in US dollars, half in the beginning of the work and half at the end, and a wire transfer is best for me, but I also have Paypal. Everything is carefully crafted, and it takes me between two and three weeks to complete a portrait. If this is all agreeable to you, let me know and we'll start :) For contacting me, see the contact page above, in the menu.
